EY has a prestigious history of celebrating entrepreneurs’ achievements through their global awards programme EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™ (WEOY). Known as the ‘Oscars meets Davos of entrepreneurship’, their annual gala event connects the EY entrepreneur community with the business community.

Due to the pandemic, EY had to find new ways of virtually connecting and showcasing the incredible achievements of their unstoppable entrepreneurs.

Phase 1: EY collaborated with CNBC Catalyst™ to create the first ever virtual experience of EY WEOY 2020. Mavens & Mavericks (MM) were asked to communicate this new virtual experience and drive engagement with invitees.

Phase 2: MM were retained to produce an entrepreneurship documentary with CNBC Catalyst for global broadcast television following WEOY 2020.

Phase 1: MM delivered a communications strategy and email marketing campaign to invite multiple categories of guests to the first ever virtual experience of ‘EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year’. This usually ‘closed door’ experience now became open to the world. MM developed an invitation referral mechanism and communication assets to invite EY clients, employees and their friends and families enabling this usually ‘closed door’ experience to become open to the world.

Phase 2: MM identified the most inspiring messages and stories from the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year community to create and produce ‘The Unstoppables’ – a documentary showcasing how entrepreneurs are reframing their future as a result of the pandemic.

Phase 1: MM briefed and oversaw a network of copywriters, creatives and designers to create a series of premium, VIP email invitation templates and communication packs to promote their participation in WEOY and highlights of their experience.

The MM team provided new thinking and recommendations on how to make VIP guests feel VIP in the absence of attending a live event.

Phase 2: MM led every aspect of the creative and production process supported by CNBC Catalyst’s production team.

MM created a joint marketing plan for EY and CNBC to promote ‘The Unstoppables’ and each featured entrepreneur, while equally helping each entrepreneur’s team to promote their appearance via their own company channels.

Launched a new on demand EY entrepreneurship content hub on cnbc.com/weoy - hosting virtual experiences and content showcasing the most inspiring stories from across the EY entrepreneur ecosystem.

The ‘Unstoppables’ was broadcast on CNBC TV across 101 countries and globally on demand.
