UK-based Wejo were an early-stage connected car data startup, ready to scale their business globally with limited marketing resources. There were differing explanations of Wejo in the marketplace, the consumer perception of the word ‘data’ was negative and Wejo’s value proposition was not understood.

Based on our marketing expertise and deep knowledge of start-up led technology with the automotive industry, our founder acted as ‘Interim Head of Marketing’ to deliver Wejo’s marketing strategy and design a new marketing organisation that would support global scale.

We created a marketing approach which was fully aligned to Wejo’s annual operating plan and growth ambitions, to start building a consistent understanding of Wejo and positive brand sentiment around the value of connected car data.

We developed a brand strategy including a brand mission, a set of values, key communication messages and imagery to refresh sales materials and Wejo website. We then created a PR agency brief including KPIs to evaluate agency spend and performance and re-pitched this brief in order to reach Wejo’s desired target audience.

We prioritised awards submissions and prepared entries to raise Wejo’s brand profile in relevant industries.

We also secured sponsorship of high profile events to position the brand and support sales targets and we refreshed sales materials with clear, consistent messaging.

We invited VIP guests (thought leaders, academics and subject matter experts) from the Financial Times’ ‘Future of the Car Summit’ and the MM network to participate in roundtables and interviews, leading to the creation of a white paper on the value of the connected car data market.
